This is a sample article. Child-development research suggests that hearing a parent's familiar voice and the rhythm of sentences — even before words make sense — builds the foundations of language and attachment.
Which books to start with?
For ages 0–3, board books with big pictures, bright colours and rhythmic lines are ideal. Let your child touch, chew and turn the pages.
- Ten minutes a day, at a regular time
- Change your voice and expressions
- Point at pictures and name them
Shared enjoyment matters more than finishing the book. If your child loses interest, close it and try again tomorrow.
